This Privacy Policy describes how Quilt ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our macOS application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We are committed to minimizing data collection. Quilt does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data or user content. All screenshots, PDFs, and other files you create remain exclusively on your device unless you choose to share or export them to third-party services.
We may collect the following limited, non-personal information:
- License validation data: When validating your license, we may process your license key and basic device information to verify your purchase.
- Anonymous usage analytics: We collect aggregated, anonymized usage data through TelemetryDeck (see Section 4).
- Crash reports: If enabled by you, crash reports may be sent to help us improve the App.
2. Local Processing
All content you capture or process through the App is handled locally on your device. This includes screenshots, PDFs, image processing, and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) using Apple's built-in Vision framework. No captured content is sent to our servers or any third party. Your files remain under your complete control at all times.
3. Payment Processing
We use Polar.sh as our third-party payment processor. When you make a purchase:
- Your payment information (credit card, billing address) is handled directly and securely by Polar.sh.
- We do not store, process, or have access to your full payment details.
- We may receive limited information from Polar.sh to verify your purchase, such as your email address and purchase confirmation.
- Polar.sh may collect additional information as described in their privacy policy.
For more details, please refer to the Polar.sh Privacy Policy.
4. Analytics
To help us understand usage patterns and improve the App, we use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany.
TelemetryDeck collects anonymous, aggregated usage data—for example, which features are used most often, how frequently the App is launched, and general performance metrics. This data helps us make informed decisions to improve the application.
TelemetryDeck does NOT collect:
- Personally identifiable information (PII)
- Your name, email, or contact information
- Content of your screenshots or files
- Tracking across other apps or websites
All data is anonymized on your device before transmission. For more details, please refer to the TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy.
5. Third-Party Services
If you choose to share your output via other services (e.g., cloud storage, email, or social media), your interaction with those platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the privacy practices of third-party services.
Third-party services that may be integrated with or accessible through the App include:
- Apple iCloud: If you export files to iCloud Drive
- Email providers: If you share files via email
- Cloud storage services: Such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive
6. Data Retention
Since we do not collect personal data or user content, there is no personal data retained on our servers. License validation records are kept only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely to track long-term usage trends.
7. Data Security
We implement the principle of minimal data collection and local-first design to reduce any potential privacy risks. While no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect any information we do process.
Security measures include:
- HTTPS encryption for all network communications
- Secure API access for license validation
- No storage of sensitive user data on our servers
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Access: The right to request information about data we have about you
- Correction: The right to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: The right to request deletion of your data
- Portability: The right to receive your data in a portable format
- Objection: The right to object to certain processing activities
Since we collect minimal data, most of these rights are already addressed by our privacy-first design. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
9. International Users
Quilt is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that any limited information we collect may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated.
By using the App, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing. We endeavor to ensure that any data handling complies with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR for users in the European Economic Area.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Since we do not sell personal information and collect minimal data, most CCPA requirements are already met. California residents may contact us for more information about our privacy practices or to exercise their rights under the CCPA.
11. Children's Privacy
Quilt is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at [email protected], and we will take steps to delete such information.
12. Do Not Track
The App does not track users across third-party websites or services and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Our analytics are limited to anonymous, in-app usage data only.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at:
- Email: [email protected]
We will respond to your inquiry within a reasonable timeframe and work to address any concerns you may have.
