Quilt v1.5

Version 1.5 focuses on performance and reliability. Core capture and export code has been rewritten to use less CPU and memory, with a new scrolling capture engine.

What’s New in v1.5

  • Scrolling Capture Engine Scrolling capture has been rebuilt for better speed and accuracy.
  • Live Stitching Scrolling captures are stitched in real time using Apple's Vision framework, so there is no separate post-processing step.
  • Smart Stop Capture automatically ends when content stops scrolling.
  • Display Handling If a display is disconnected mid-capture, the session pauses and lets you choose a new target instead of failing.
  • Performance Reduced CPU usage and improved memory management during captures and in the preview window.
  • Previews and Exports Thumbnails load faster in the preview grid. Large batch exports are now multi-threaded.
  • Display Names The source picker shows monitor names (e.g., "Studio Display") instead of resolutions.
  • File Naming Exports get a numbered suffix (e.g., capture-1.png) to avoid overwriting existing files.
  • Esc Overlay Fix The "Press Esc to Stop" overlay no longer appears in final screenshots.

Quilt v1.4

Version 1.4 adds background capture, drag-and-drop reordering, custom export filenames, and a redesigned Settings window. The app also includes UI updates for macOS Tahoe.

What’s New in v1.4

  • Background Capture (Pro) Start a capture session and switch to other apps while Quilt works in the background. Currently works with "Do Nothing" and "Press Key" actions.
  • Drag and Drop Reordering Rearrange screenshots in the preview grid by dragging thumbnails into a new position before export.
  • Custom Filename Templates (Pro) Create your own export naming convention in the new Export tab in Settings. Placeholders include {YYYY}-{MM}-{DD}, {AppName}, and {WindowTitle}.
  • Image Export Formats (Pro) Export images and ZIP archives in JPEG, HEIC, and WebP in addition to PNG.
  • Capture Progress Capture sessions show a progress bar and estimated time remaining.
  • Settings Redesign Settings now uses a tabbed layout for easier navigation.
  • UI Updates Updated animations and Liquid Glass styling for macOS Tahoe.
  • License Management Manage your subscription or deactivate the current device from the license page in the app.
  • Area Selection When selecting a custom area, Quilt detects the window underneath for use in filename templates.
  • Source Picker The window and display selector is faster and shows app icons with clearer titles.
  • In-App Renaming Edit the export filename directly in the preview window before saving.
  • Capture UI The countdown is now a progress circle, with clearer status messages on the main screen.
  • Space Awareness The source picker better filters windows to the current macOS Space.
  • Arrow Key Navigation Use arrow keys to navigate and re-select screenshots in the preview grid.
  • Responsiveness Fix Fixed an issue where the app could become unresponsive during high-frequency captures.
  • Key Press Reliability Automated key presses are sent more reliably.

  • Critical License Fix Fixed an issue where users were unable to redeem their license keys on prior versions of Quilt.
